The Screen Magnifiers Homepage is a non-profit independent organization.
We do not sell any products or services.
We are the leading resource for magnification solutions information on the Internet.
Screen magnifiers are developed for people with low vision.
Screen
magnifiers can magnify the contents of the logical computer screen from 2 until
unlimited times. Most magnification programs offer a maximum magnification to 16
times.
On the physical computer screen, you get a portion of the normal
screen.
You can view the whole screen by scrolling over the screen using the
mouse or the keyboard. While moving the mouse the information on the screen
changes.
The screen magnifiers are specially developed for people with low
vision, who can not read on a normal screen. This group is relatively small.
Maybe that is the reason why most screen magnification software is expensive.
In some countries you can get the software or hardware paid for you by the government or
a social health organization. But this is not the case in all countries.
On this site you will find information about screen magnifier and screen reader software for Microsoft Windows, Mac, UNIX and Linux.
If you want to know the latest news about screen accessibility solutions and about this site, select the News option in the menu.
If you want to read reviews on screen magnifiers for Windows, select Reviews, in the menu.
If you want to try a screen magnifier or screen reader yourself, select the Download option in the menu.
On the download page you
find a number of FREEWARE and SHAREWARE screen magnifiers, Text-to-Speech programs and demos of professional screen magnifiers and screen readers.
If you are looking for other FREEWARE PROGRAMS visit Jans Freeware Collection.
If you want to read reviews on Text-To-Speech software and download demo
programs of these software, select Speech in the
menu.
The Text-To-Speech software on the speech page, does not need any
additional hardware. The only thing you need is a sound card.
To make computers, software, information and the Internet accessible for
everybody in this world, more has to be done than producing accessibility
features like screen magnifiers.
Software developers, web page designers and
governments have also a responsibility. Select the Accessibility option in the menu and read about how to make
the world more accessible.
